19 January, 2018 / Bar Italia, Soho Following on from 18 January's post of Ronnie Scott's, it's right to mention the institution that is Veronica and Anthony Polledri's Bar Italia, immediately opposite. This little cafe has a secret, signalled by a Blue Plaque above the door - which states on 26 January 1926 John Logie Baird first demonstrated television on this site. Dave Stewart (of the Eurythmics) also said of the cafe "This coffee shop is very small but what goes on in there is as big as the world." Given the venue opposite and its patrons this seems apt. Bar Italia has previously been the recipient of a London Lifestyle Award for London Coffee Shop of the Year. http://baritaliasoho.co.uk
